As we near the conclusion of the Group Stage, 4 days of competition remain. Each day will feature a full round robin of each group. While the teams may have played, this is an important time to swap players who did not work out in the first three games with others who should pop off on the final day.
Let’s get into it.
#1 RNG Gala
We all knew Gala would be a hotly contested AD for this tournament. We saw him play in LPL, win MSI and still he has exceeded expectations. This AD is the hyper carry of RNG and he always delivers.
With a single death across 3 games and a KDA of 40 he is the best performing ADC in the entire tournament. With another week like that, he might be the best performing player out of all Groups.
#2 GEN Chovy
The perfect meta of assassins, control mages and playmakers has become Chovy’s playground. Scoring 2 deathless games and showcasing the same impressive farm and mechanics you know and love from him.
Despite some hiccups from the team, GENG should still be considered a Championship contender and much of that hype falls on the back of soon to be legendary midlaner, Chovy.
#3 RNG Wei
He isn’t flashy, but he gets the job done. We continue to feature players who have high KP% and low deaths and Wei is one of the best right now. Here’s a jungler whose playing carry champions and has a KDA of 42 with a single death.
If RNG can keep this up, between him and Gala’s insane scorelines, those could carry against most other DFS roster right now, even if the rest of your team isn’t performing as they should.
#4 CFO Gemini
The team name is a pun on the word family, but it is accurate because this team lives and dies together right from their draft. Despite their commitment to champions like Pyke or Syndra, the one player who is consistent on all champions is their jungler.
Gemini has a 6 year pro history and World’s experience, so it’s no surprise that he’s one of the best players on this team. While he’s yet to commit to a champion more than once, the one win vs 100T on Viego looked promising and something the team can return to for a win.
#5 100T Closer
While 100T has looked miserable in their games, a single player stands out as a ray of hope. Closer. He was the reason they got here in the first place. It doesn’t seem like he’s playing worse, but the team as a whole is struggling.
In large part the top lane carries and mid lane champion pools for the team have been off. We’re expecting 100T to fall back on what has worked for them in the past, tank tops, control mages mid, carry junglers and playing through bot as a superior strategy. This will hopefully give Closer the room he needs to drag his team across the finish line at least once.
The first match of Group D is 100Thieves vs CBTC Flying Oyster on Sunday October 16th at 12pm PST.
